Thunderstorm watch until 9 a.m. includes Twin Cities

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 9 am. The warning zone covers most of central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.


 A severe storm is passing through central Minnesota. The best time for a strong storm to occur in the twin cities is from 8 am to 9 am on Tuesday morning. Read Fred caused extensive floods and storm damage.


 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the extreme west of central Minnesota and central Wisconsin .


 Effective Tuesday morning from 215 to 900 (CDT). * The main threats include... Dispersed destructive wind gusts may reach 70 miles per hour. Large isolated hail events with a diameter of 1 inch may occur.


Summary... An organized storm regiment may continue to exist and move southeast and east through central Minnesota in the early morning. The storm environment and the organized linear structure of the storm indicate that there are occasional destructive winds of 60-70 mph, and the strongest embedded storms may also produce large isolated hail close to 1 inch in diameter.
